Yamabe Constants and the Perturbed Seiberg-Witten Equations

Among all conformal classes of Riemannian metrics on ${\Bbb CP}_2$, that of the Fubini-Study metric is shown to have the largest Yamabe constant. The proof, which involves perturbations of the Seiberg-Witten equations, also yields new results on the total scalar curvature of almost-Kähler 4-manifolds.

Fourier-Laplace transform of a variation of polarized complex Hodge structure, II

We show that the limit, by rescaling, of the `new supersymmetric index' attached to the Fourier-Laplace transform of a polarized variation of Hodge structure on a punctured affine line is equal to the spectral polynomial attached to the same object. We also extend the definition by Deligne of a Hodge filtration on the de Rham cohomology of a exponentially twisted polarized variation of complex Hodge structure and prove a E_1 degeneration property for it.

Half-quantum groups at roots of unity, path algebras and representation type

We show that finite dimensional half-quantum groups at roots of unity corresponding to simple Lie algebras having symmetric Cartan matrix are of wild representation type, except for sl_2. Moreover, the underlying associative algebra is isomorphic to an admissible quotient of the path algebra of the Cayley graph of an abelian group. A quantum type Fourier transform enables to describe an explicit isomorphism.

Weyl Curvature, Einstein Metrics, and Seiberg-Witten Theory

We show that solutions of the Seiberg-Witten equations lead to non-trivial lower bounds for the L2-norm of the Weyl curvature of a compact Riemannian 4-manifold. These estimates are then used to derive new obstructions to the existence of Einstein metrics. These results considerably refine those previously obtained using scalar-curvature estimates alone.
