We review the recently discovered symmetries of the 8 and 6 vertex models which exist at roots of unity and present their relation with representation theory of affine Lie algebras, Drinfeld polynomials and Bethe vectors.

We present results from studies of high temperature QCD with two flavors of Kogut-Susskind quarks on $16^3\times 8$ lattices at a quark mass of $am_q=0.00625$ and on $24^3\times 12$ lattices at quark masses $am_q=0.008$ and 0.016. The value of the crossover temperature is consistent with that obtained on coarser lattices and/or at larger quark masses. Results are presented for the chiral order parameter and for the baryon number susceptibility.

We compute Seshadri constants $\eps(X):= \eps(Ø_X(1))$ on $K3$ surfaces $X$ of degrees 6 and 8. Moreover, more generally, we prove that if $X$ is any embedded $K3$ surface of degree $2r-2 \geq 8$ in $\PP^r$ not containing lines, then $1 < \eps(X)

Among non-alternating knots with $n\le 12$ crossings given in \cite{1} Turaev genus is not known for 191 knot. For 154 of them we show that they are almost alternating, so their Turaev genus is 1.
