Quick notes on yet another attempt to marry the task of editing a taxonomic classification with versioning it in GitHub.The idea of dumping the whole GBIF classification into GitHub as a series of nested folders looks untenable.

Good news - the Ion Torrent Suite is now freely available open source software on GitHub under the GPL v2 licence, as promised late last year. There is now something more substantial behind talk of Ion Torrent " democratising sequencing ", and a clear advantage over the closed source tools of rival companies. I commend them!

Entre las notas que uno genera durante una investigación están las ideas de todo tipo, pueden ser sobre nuevos proyectos, el diseño de nuevas preguntas, las asistencia a eventos, títulos para un nuevo trabajo, colaboraciones, probar herramientas electrónicas, implementar un método, por mencionar algunas. Me resulta muy interesante la propuesta de compartir ideas, proyectos y procedimientos en la investigación digital.

As The Verge reports Microsoft acquires GitHub. According to The Verge GitHub was "last valued at $2 billion back in 2015, but it's not clear exactly how much Microsoft has paid to acquire GitHub." The Verge also considers the purchase as a promotion of Microsoft's open source strategy and suspects the acquisition could meet mistrust in the open source scene.
