Spatial studies of analyte emission in the inductively coupled plasma have revealed wide variance in the position of maximum signal. Obviously, in routine chemical analysis best results are obtained when emission is viewed in this region. Moreover, in fundamental or developmental studies on the ICP it is often necessary to scan or observe atypical regions of the plasma discharge. Such scans or the selection of spatial observation regions can be accomplished by several alternative means.

We examine the effect of an atmospheric-pressure Ar/CO2 microwave torch on nanocarbon films formed on the surface of silicon wafers by vertical deposition from an ethyl colloidal solution of carbon nanoparticles. The spatial distribution of the microwave torch plasma temperature is obtained for the optimal plasma treatment regime, which does not lead to significant morphological changes in the surface. It is shown that the nanocarbon coating exhibits high resistance to plasma loading.

This paper validates a linearized discrete-time model of a switched-mode power converter operating with an arc load, and details a methodology for determining its parameters. These parameters are essential for the analysis and synthesis of the output current control loop. The paper also discusses the analytical synthesis of a digital PI controller within a switched-mode power supply.
