We show that a top-prime quark as heavy as 600 GeV can be discovered at the Tevatron, provided it is resonantly pair-produced via a vector color octet. If the top-prime originates from a vectorlike quark, then the production of a single top-prime in association with a top may also be observable, even through its decay into a Higgs boson and a top. A color octet with mass of about 1 TeV, which decays into a top-prime pair, may account for the CDF excess of semileptonic (Wj)(Wj) events.

This is a brief summary of the latest searches for virtual effects of new physics in the top sector. In the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), I show how to resolve the structure of effective couplings by combining observables at the LHC and at flavor experiments in a global fit. With this approach we start exploring the features of a UV theory at energies beyond current colliders.

This article presents a review of recent results on direct top quark mass measurements performed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations on $pp$ collisions collected during Run 2 of the LHC at $\sqrt{s}=$13 TeV.

We apply molecular dynamics simulations to quantify the effects of free surfaces and interfacial regions on crystallization in freestanding and bilayer polymer films.
