We analyze a new MacDowell-Mansouri $R^2$-type supergravity action based on the superalgebra Osp(1|8). This contribution summarizes the work of hep-th/9702052.

We introduce an N=8 supersymmetric extension of the Bogomolny-type model for Yang-Mills-Higgs fields in 2+1 dimensions related with twistor string theory. It is shown that this model is equivalent to an N=8 supersymmetric U(n) chiral model in 2+1 dimensions with a Wess-Zumino-Witten-type term. Further reduction to 1+1 dimensions yields N=(8,8) supersymmetric extensions of the standard U(n) chiral model and Grassmannian sigma models.

We construct a pair of non-commutative rank 8 association schemes from a rank 3 non-symmetric association scheme. For the pair, two association schemes have the same character table but different Frobenius-Schur indicators. This situation is similar to the pair of the dihedral group and the quaternion group of order 8. We also determine the structures of adjacency algebras of them over the rational number field.

Liu and Piccirillo developed a combinatorial argument that employs the 10/8-theorem to demonstrate that certain manifolds cannot be obtained via Dehn surgery on a knot. We extend their approach by creating additional examples using chainmail links.

We prove that the pseudoautomorphism group of a blow-up of $\mathbb{P}^3$ at $8$ very general points is trivial. We also establish the injectivity of the Coble representation associated to blow-ups of $\mathbb{P}^3$ at $r\ge 8$ general points, answering a question of Dolgachev--Ortland.

In this note we construct a new infinite family of $(q-1)$-regular graphs of girth $8$ and order $2q(q-1)^2$ for all prime powers $q\ge 16$, which are the smallest known so far whenever $q-1$ is not a prime power or a prime power plus one itself.
